Skills: Cunning, strength

Family: LJ

Lothar is one of the protagonists of Defenders of the Earth, developed further in DoE fan fiction.

Upbringing

Lothar spent his childhood in the Jamaican village of Abbeville, presumably gaining a reputation for several good deeds throughout the community. At some point, he relocated to Africa, where he would meet the woman with whom he'd have a son, also named Lothar, nicknamed LJ.

The Seven Nations

During a time of peril, seven African clans formed a union called the Seven Nations. Lothar, who'd grown into a young man of extraordinary strength and cleverness, emerged as the greatest hero within the alliance. He thus gained the title of Prince of the Seven Nations, and his renown spread across the world. During this period, he met the equally famed crime fighter Mandrake the Magician, who was visiting the country. The pair chose to work together and formed a close friendship, saving each other on multiple occasions. Lothar eventually decided that he and LJ would cohabitate with Mandrake in America, where they could operate more effectively. Some fan-created fiction, including the work of Rosehill, explores a romantic relationship between the men.

Earth A

Lothar of Earth A is a character featured in Defenders of the Earth: This Is Their Side Story. He is based on the Lothar from the unaired television pilot for Defenders of the Earth. Like the character from that short, he is a physically powerful member of the DoE, an old friend of Mandrake's, and the father of LJ. His son's apparent high level of intelligence may suggest that Lothar, as well, is a crafty and brainy adventurer. As with other Lothars in alternate dimensions, he is believed to be a generally good-spirited individual.

Skills

In contrast to his son, who is sometimes portrayed as brash, Lothar is typically written as a level-headed and cunning man. Like his teammate Rick Gordon, he has a fondness for technological tools, occasionally using advanced weaponry and gadgetry in battle. He is renowned for his physical power, and is considered one of the strongest men on Earth. Despite his prowess and fame, he remains a humble individual, and is noted for his friendly nature.
