Prince Krotan is introduced in Defenders of the Earth and developed further in numerous fan-created tales. In the TV series, he is largely depicted as a cocky, insensitive, and ambitious schemer who secretly seeks to depose his father Ming as ruler of planet Mongo. Many works of fan fiction maintain the depiction seen in the show, while others explore the character's potential to change, often by presenting him as compassionate toward Jedda Walker, whom he is attracted to romantically. Some works also present the attraction as mutual.
