Family: Royals of the Netherworld, Walkers, Royals of Mongo

Queen Hadea is a character introduced in Defenders of the Earth and developed further in fan-created tales. Ruler of a secret kingdom beneath Earth's surface, she makes her first appearance in "The Golden Queen." Sometimes considered the most layered character in DoE fan fiction, she is written with varying levels of pride, compassion, and devotion by viewers of the TV series.

Upbringing

Following the collapse of her tyranny, the witch Zorelda fled planet Mongo and sought refuge in a kingdom called the Netherworld on Earth. In exchange for sanctuary, she imbued the pregnant queen with a mystical healing ability, ensuring a painless birth. This regenerative power would be inherited by the queen's child and many other successors.

Zorelda returned to Mongo in secret while plotting to regain the throne.

Several generations later, the latest rulers of the Netherworld departed the kingdom while attempting to conquer a second land, leaving their teenage daughter Hadea in power. Having prepared for years, Hadea proved more efficient than her parents over time, developing a great deal of pride due to her talent and beauty, both of which earned her the nickname "the Golden Queen." However, she also felt a degree of loneliness, and sought intimate relationships as a result.

DoE

Introduced during a struggle between Ming and the Defenders of the Earth, a grown Hadea assisted the former while intending to marry the Defender called Phantom, whom she had seemingly observed in private. She also sought to adopt the Phantom's daughter Jedda, and to seize Jedda's super powerful Necklace of Oros. She and Ming ultimately had a falling out, and appeared to be equals in battle, before he managed to send her to a mystical prison.

This Is Their Story

Defenders of the Earth: This Is Their Story, authored by Marzena, expands the tale presented in the TV series. In this continuation, Hadea and the Phantom have a longer discussion about their personal feelings and the issues facing them. This story also reveals Hadea to be a member of the Royals of Mongo who was sent to the Netherworld for political purposes. She assists the Defenders when doing so suits her or her siblings, revealing a gentler nature gradually.

The Ghost Walks Again

In Marzena's retelling of the TV episode "The Ghost Walks Again," Hadea attempts to comfort and guide the Phantom's daughter Jedda during a traumatic period in both of their lives.

Dynasties

The story Dynasties introduces the character as an ambitious conqueror of the galaxy, though she later reforms while bonding with Phantom, Jedda, and Rick, whom she mentors unexpectedly. She also learns more about the history of her kingdom, and ascends to the rank of Empress.

Sailor Moon Defenders

Sailor Moon Defenders also presents Hadea as its first antagonist, but reforms the character while revealing her compassionate side.

DOE Retold

In DOE Retold, Hadea gains the Necklace of Oros, transforms Earth, and rules for one year. She then turns her attention to a different planet, but faces the objections of her adopted daughter Jedda.

This Is Their Side Story

A spin-off of Marzena's tale, This Is Their Side Story presents a Hadea modeled after the character in the original. As the story progresses, the queen defends her kingdom from an invasion by Ming, and returns to Mongo temporarily to aid her siblings.

Earth H

Earth H presents a retelling of "The Golden Queen" that sees a compassionate Hadea team with Jedda to remake a withering Earth.

Earth J

On this world, Queen Hadea is the biological mother of Princess Jedda, whose father she met while their lands were trading goods. The Phantom left the family when Hadea insisted on bringing Earth under her rule as a gift for their daughter. Completely loyal to her mother, a vain Jedda grew up thrilled by the knowledge that she would be queen one day.

Skills

Hadea is a Netherworlder, a breed of people created when humans and natives of the Netherworld mated. She possesses strength and stamina beyond that of a human woman with her build, as well as noticeably pale skin.

She is one of several members of her family to inherit an enhanced healing ability. Her body is imbued with a mystical aura that keeps her in near-perfect health. She does not experience the aches, throbs, and ailments that normal humans do. In addition, she is essentially immune to poisons, which her body resists, and is unaffected by toxins, as demonstrated in a chapter of the fanfic Dynasties. Though she can be hurt, her wounds typically close at a faster rate than other people's, generally helping her to avoid significant injury. However, the regenerative ability has limits, and cannot save her from all dangers, which is why it behooves her to avoid harm when possible.

On most occasions, she can also heal others by projecting some of her power into them temporarily. If someone of another race is hurt severely, Hadea may enhance the healing process by injecting the target with her blood. This method ultimately makes the healed person part Netherworlder, as is the case with Jedda in some fanfics.
