Sailor Moon Defenders

Chapter Twenty-Two: What's To Come
Rei woke up, startled. She looked around, finding herself in her bedroom.
"It was a dream." Rei stated quietly.
She got up from the bed, looking around in weary. A woman in gold was after not only all the Sailor Guardians but Rick Gordon as well. She figured she knew why this woman would be after the Sailor Guardians but why was this woman after Rick? What powers did he have?
"Why exactly?" Rei muttered.
"Are you okay, Rei?" she heard her friend Ami ask. She faced her friend as Makoto, Minako and Usagi were also present in the room, eyeing her.
"Yeah." Rei nodded. "I'm fine."
The group heard a loud knock on the door, which definitely took Usagi by surprise as she yelped, falling out of her bed.
"We're up!" Rei replied.
"Good," Mandrake called in from the other side of the door. "Time for you girls to get ready for school."
"Isn't that lovely?" Hotaru groaned.
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
A small pink haired girl looked down as she was holding on tightly to her umbrella. She looked to see that she was landing near a pretty mansion, staring at the building in awe.
She landed on the ground and hid behind a tree to make sure that the young people leaving the mansion wouldn't notice her.
"Chibi Chibi." the girl spoke quietly.
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
Mandrake sighed as he left the girls' room in annoyance. "Those girls really need to pick up after themselves."
"That's the girls for you." Mamoru replied. "It's hard for them to maintain cleanliness with Usagi and Minako in the same room."
"I say." Mandrake adjusted his hat a bit. "Rei, Ami and Makoto do try to keep their spaces clean."
"You might want to have a talk with those two as well as Chibiusa." Lothar smirked.
"Perhaps." he nodded. "Where are the others?"
"Cathleen is at the library." Lothar answered.
"And Flash went to town on a little date with Sheila while April is training at the Battle Stimulation Room." Mamoru added.
"So Flash decided to get back into dating." Mandrake couldn't help but to chuckle.
"Pretty much." Lothar nodded.
The group was startled to hear a pattering on the floor.
"Huh?" Mamoru quipped.
"I heard too." Mandrake nodded.
"Who or what is it?" Lothar asked. "Zuffy?"
"Impossible." Mandrake answered. "Zuffy is back on Mongo with the other Zuffoids."
He sighed, remembering the little Zuffoid. When Hadea first became queen of the galaxy, the Defenders had sent Zuffy to Mongo with the rest of the Zuffoids for his own safety. From what he understood, Zuffy was now safe and happy.
He extended a hand and called out, "Kshin, Chibiusa, Hotaru, Is that you?"
"How can it be those three?" Lothar crossed his arms. "They're still at school."
"Chibi…" a small voice called out. The three men exclaimed in surprise. "Oh!"
"Chibi?" the voice chimed in again.
The men looked around the mansion to find the source of the noise.
Mandrake tracked the source of where the small voice was coming from in the library. He looked in surprise to see a small girl with pinkish red hair, holding what appeared to be an incense burner.
"Chibi Chibi." the girl greeted him.
"Why hello there, little one." he greeted her. "Where did you come from?"
"Chibi Chibi."
Mandrake looked down at the small girl in confusion. "I trust that is your name?"
"Chibi!" the girl nodded happily.
"Mandrake!" he heard Lothar call out from behind. The magician turned around to see Lothar and Mamoru arrive at the scene.
"Who's the child?" Lothar asked.
"That's what I want to know!" Mamoru exclaimed.
"Well," Mandrake answered calmly, "All I know is her name is Chibi Chibi."
"Chibi Chibi!" Chibi Chibi exclaimed happily.
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
"A new enemy?" Ami asked.
"I'm very certain." Rei answered. "My latest dream felt more like one of my premonitions, like when we dealt with Mugen Academy and the Death Busters. I can't tell you all of the details. All I know is this threat could aid Zorelda in the future."
"I'm certain Zorelda doesn't need any allies just as Hadea didn't when she conquered the galaxy." Makoto chimed.
"I wouldn't be so sure." Minako spoke up.
"Why not?" Usagi asked.
"Jedda told me that she saw Zorelda in her old form while she spent the week with Hadea. She told me this after we were rescued from Krotan along with you, Ami, Rick and LJ." Minako explained. "She told me Zorelda would be even more of a threat than she's considered if she had the Necklace of Oros."
"Then she'll be as she was before?" Makoto asked.
Rei nodded. "And Zorelda along with this new threat could bring us more trouble than Ming the Merciless is bringing us at the moment."
"Speaking of Jedda, how is she doing? Pregnancy and all." Usagi asked.
"Rick says she she might take homeschooling until the baby is born." Ami answered. "Jedda suspects that she might be having twins but they're not sure yet."
"Twins?!" Minako exclaimed.
"Essentially."
Rei looked around her group as they ate their lunch in silence for a moment. She wondered if she should tell them about Jedda's suspicions about the twins or wait. There were other things on her mind. First and foremost, the threats that were Zorelda and this mysterious new threat coming this way. Also, Cathleen was a cause of concern, especially lately. She acted as if she had something to hide, clearly the sign of someone that could be considered a threat in the near future.
"Oh!" Minako exclaimed with excitement, breaking the silence. "Did you guys hear about the new pop group that came here recently?"
"The Three Lights?" Makoto asked.
"Yup. Them," Minako answered. "The Japanese pop group recently came here and they're an American sensation!"
"Well, that's interesting." Ami replied.
"I'll say." Usagi quipped.
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
Jedda looked in concern as Rick appeared to be more quiet than usual. Normally, he was with the conversation with the rest of the group and sometimes putting his two cents in the conversation but not this time. He appeared to be more distant.
She looked towards the others as they were talking.
"Did you guys hear about the Three Lights?" LJ asked.
"The new Japanese pop group that came to America?" Michiru glanced over at him.
"Yes." LJ nodded. "I take it you're a fan, like many other American fans here."
There was a pause of silence as the group looked over at both Rick and Jedda. She eyed the others.
"Is everything okay, Rick?" Michiru asked.
"Yeah." LJ added. "It's not like you to not be in the conversation with us."
"I'm fine." Rick answered. "I'm just feeling bugged."
"About what?" Haruka asked.
Jedda sighed before speaking up.
"Rick has been having these nightmares lately." Jedda explained. "Some monster was chasing after Rick and attacked him."
"It becomes less scary when I see a small girl saving me from my fall." Rick added. "She was wearing the same Sailor Guardian uniform as you guys."
"Chibiusa?" Haruka asked.
"No." Rick shook his head. "She was smaller than Chibiusa and her hair's a darker shade."
"Setsuna explained about her dream about a powerful woman from a far galaxy coming here." Michiru explained. "She appears to be after all of us Sailor Guardians."
Jedda watched in concern, wondering what this would mean for the future. She looked over at Rick and LJ as they both also appeared to be looking on in weary.
"Well," LJ spoke up, breaking the pause of silence, "I wouldn't worry about it too much. They are probably only dreams."
"I wouldn't put it that way." Michiru glanced towards the group. "You can ask Setsuna. Ask Rei. You can even ask Mamoru. Their dreams typically come out as premonitions."
"Can we not discuss this right now?!" Rick exclaimed as he stood up from his seat. "I just want to focus on keeping Jedda and our baby safe! I can't have any dreams or visions put them in harm's way!"
"Look," Haruka replied calmly, "I know you don't want to hear it Rick but if the dreams are all connected to you in a way, chances are, you might be in trouble."
Rick quickly stood up and stormed out of the cafeteria.
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
Rick found himself running out of the cafeteria, and made his way at the hallway, outside the cafeteria. He caught his breath in shock and fear, not wanting to believe his dreams were premonitions. He only wanted Jedda and the baby to be safe, which should be his only concern. Why was this danger about to happen so soon? He took a deep breath.
"Rick?" he heard Jedda call from behind. A second later, he turned around to see her looking at him with concern.
"I'll be all right, Jedda." Rick nodded.
"Are you sure?" Jedda asked.
"Well… I'm not sure." Rick shook his head. At first, he wasn't sure how he was going to explain what he was feeling. "The Sailor Guardians are talking about our recent dreams, which are apparently premonitions."
He shook a bit before he took a deep breath. "I can't… I don't know if I can handle it if anything happened to you or the baby."
He gently touched Jedda's stomach. "I just want you guys to be safe."
"Rick, it's going to be fine," Jedda assured him. "We've been in tough situations before, I'm sure we will make it just fine."
"I hope," Rick replied before embracing Jedda in a hug. Moments later, he leaned towards her and they kissed.
I'm pretty sure that people don't much care for Zuffy but I felt that since he was on the show, the readers should know what had become of the Zuffoid. Kisa, Jedda's pet panther, was in the series as well and I'm not sure what to do with her. Maybe she was a casualty of Hadea's reign? Or maybe she is back at the Bandar Village. I would like to say the latter but you know.
After her first short scene earlier in this chapter, I thought that this would be a good way for some of the Defenders and Mamoru to meet Chibi Chibi, one of the major characters of the Sailor Stars season. She's also a mysterious character at that. Why I said that? We shall see as the series progresses.
Here's a brief mention of new characters from the Sailor Stars season that you will meet really soon: The Sailor Starlights under the alias of their Idol group: The Three Lights. I may find them the hardest to write as they were my least favorite characters of that season.
As the others were talking about the Three Lights as well, Jedda notices the distance Rick is feeling as he appears to be detached from the group from the nightmares that he had recently been enduring.
Haruka and Michiru are not wrong there. Most of the time, the dreams of the Sailor Guardians usually come out as premonitions such as Rei's in the Sailor Moon S season for example.
He shook a bit before he took a deep breath. "I can't… I don't know if I can handle it if anything happened to you or the baby."
He gently touched Jedda's stomach. "I just want you guys to be safe."
" Rick, it's going to be fine," Jedda assured him. "We've been in tough situations before, I'm sure we will make it just fine."
" I hope," Rick replied before embracing Jedda in a hug. Moments later, he leaned towards her and they kissed.
I loved writing this scene. Jedda was assuring Rick that everything will be okay as he was worried for her as well as the unborn child. The scene is sweet and lovely, especially towards the end.
