Sailor Moon Defenders

Chapter Nine: Into The Light
"Are you happy now, Jedda?"
At first she didn't move. She realized that the others were upset with her but she had no idea that it would get as far as it did. All Jedda could do was stare at the stone body of Rick Gordon laying on the ground.
"Rick loved you. Your father loved you. You knew that but what do you do? You come here to Queen Hadea and turn to her."
"LJ, stop!" Jedda could hear her father shout.
"Because you came to Queen Hadea," LJ continued, "Rick is now dead! Are you happy now?!"
Jedda looked up upon hearing LJ's scowl. She looked up to see him standing there, seething. She could only stand there, not really knowing what she could say. She never wanted any of this conflict to happen in the first place and she especially didn't want Rick to die.
"Answer me!" LJ took a few steps forward.
"That's enough!" Mamoru grabbed him to keep him from coming any closer to Jedda.
"What?!" LJ exclaimed in dismay. Mamoru only shook his head in response.
Jedda looked over at her father who looked down in sadness and then she saw Usagi, Chibiusa and Hotaru as they appeared to be shocked, not knowing what they could say. Then, she looked as LJ had managed to calm down and Mamoru released him.
"I'm sorry Jedda," LJ replied as he appeared to be shaken up as tears fell down his face. "I didn't mean it."
Before Jedda could say anything, she took a step back as a huge burst of light appeared from out of nowhere.
She and the others turned around to see two large portals appear before them. Makoto, Minako, Setsuna, Mandrake and Lothar appeared from the first portal, which vanished seconds after they appeared.
"It looks like we have made it to the throne room!" Mandrake declared.
Appearing in the second portal were Ami, Rei, Haruka, Michiru, Flash and a blonde woman that Jedda was not familiar with.
"It's over, Hadea," Flash announced. "We have all made it!"
Hadea glanced over at the groups that had just arrived. In Hadea, Flash sensed pure arrogance. There was no denying her remarkable beauty, but that was irrelevant in the face of everything she had done to Earth and the rest of the galaxy.
"Welcome, Sailor Guardians and Defenders of the Earth," Hadea said quietly. "I have to commend you for actually reaching the palace and defeating my guards when I separated you." She appeared unsettled. "Unfortunately, you were too late to avert tragedy."
"What?!" Makoto exclaimed.
"What are you talking about?" Lothar asked, confused.
"Dad!" LJ ran to his father, trembling with tears down his face as if something terrible had happened. Flash noticed the confusion that was on Lothar's face quickly changed to shock, as did Mandrake's seconds later.
"It can't be!" Lothar exclaimed in shock before holding his son in a comforting embrace.
Mandrake took his hat off and held his head down.
Flash turned away from the three as a part of him didn't want to know what exactly had happened albeit he would have to see for himself as well inevitably. He saw the expressions from Minako, Makoto and Setsuna, followed by Rei, Ami, Haruka and Michiru and they all appeared to be in a state of shock.
"Flash!" he felt Sheila tug at him which caused him to glance at the direction that she and the others were looking at. He paled and his eyes widened in stark horror at the sight before him: Usagi, Chibiusa and Hotaru all appeared to be in shock while Jedda was looking down in sadness and the Phantom and Mamoru both appeared grim as they were all looking at Rick's lifeless body which had turned to stone. No. No, no. Please no. No.
"Rick! RICK!"
He ran towards where his son was laying.
"Flash, it's too late!" Flash could hear Rei shout but he didn't want to believe that it was so. He knelt to his son's side in hopes to try to find some sort of way to save him. Somehow.
"I'm sorry, Flash," the Phantom said in a grim tone before he looked up to find his team mate looking grim, "He's gone."
"Rick. No…" Flash picked up his stone son. Moments later, the statue cracked and then crumbled to dust. There was nothing left of Rick Gordon. Flash covered his head with his hands in anguish as his worst fear had come to life. "NO!"
Flash dropped to his knees as tears streamed down his face. Despite his efforts to hold it back, a choked sob escaped his lips. Then heart broken sobs came out; the heartbroken sobs of a father who had just lost his son and he buried his face in his hands, no longer trying to hold back his sobs.
Sheila stood completely still at first. She couldn't believe what she just saw. One of the Defenders had just crumbled to dust before her eyes and in Flash's arms too. Was that boy Flash Gordon's son? Regardless, he didn't deserve such a fate and Flash didn't deserve to suffer losing a child.
"I can't believe that Rick is gone," Mandrake stated. "You know of all of us, I thought he'd be the one to make it."
"First Dale, now this," Lothar added.
Sheila turned around and hurried to where Flash was at, not knowing what to say at first as the Phantom, Jedda were with them.
"Flash." Sheila finally spoke up. "I'm so sorry. I…"
"Save it." Flash cut her off with sadness and despair in his voice. "My son is gone forever. I'm never going to see him again."
Sheila sighed in sadness, hating how she was unable to make this situation any better as she knew that nothing she said or done would make things better.
Hadea looked around at the entire throne room. One of the Defenders were dead and another was in despair while the others were in a state of shock. She looked as Makoto and Haruka stepped forward in anger.
"Sparkling Wide Pressure!"
"World Shaking!"
Using the Necklace of Oros, Hadea deflected both attacks and knocked down both Makoto and Haruka. The other Sailor Guardians hurried to their friends.
"Mako!" Usagi exclaimed.
"Haruka!" Michiru tended to her lover.
"That was pretty reckless there," Minako couldn't help but to state.
"Now Flash Gordon knows how I felt," Hadea stated. "He knows how it feels to be completely alone."
"What are you even talking about?" Rei asked.
"None of you can even imagine what it is like to be completely alone," Hadea told the group. "None of you know how to endure loneliness just like I have growing up."
Hadea took a deep breath as she reflected on her childhood and her youth.
"My parents had left me alone in order to go and conquer other planets in the galaxy. I know what it is like to grow up without a mother present. Both of my parents were absent in my life." Hadea explained. "That left me to learn all that I needed to by myself. I taught myself many arts which would be the art of combat, seduction, diplomacy and the most important one of all, the art of being Golden."
Hadea opened her eyes and looked at the surviving teammates. "With everything that I had to go through, none of you knows how it feels to be alone, to not have anyone to be by your side."
"That's where you're wrong." Usagi spoke up, breaking the silence, taking Hadea by surprise.
Hadea exclaimed in surprise as she saw each of the Sailor Guardians starting to look at her with sympathy in their eyes, one by one. She could also see the Defenders all looking confused at what was going on but decided not to interrupt.
"You're not the only one who has experienced loneliness in life." Usagi calmly replied.
"How would you know about it?!" Hadea asked. "Even with those who abide by my ruling in this galaxy, there are still those who give me resistance and strife. None of you would understand that I exerted control of this galaxy to make life better."
She looked at Jedda. "I gave Jedda the mother she always wanted."
Then she looked at the Phantom. "And I offered the Phantom pleasure amidst a life filled with pain."
"I am wanting to give my daughter and my mate a better life than I had." Hadea continued as she faced the other heroes again. "I wanted to give the Phantom a companion that he desired and Jedda the affection she often longed for."
Hadea paused a bit as she looked at Jedda again before facing the others again. "And I would hope to give Jedda's child the same affection that I have given to her."
"What?!" the Phantom exclaimed.
"Before you came here," Hadea explained, "Jedda found out that she had been pregnant for six weeks now and I sensed that it was Rick Gordon's child that she is bearing."
"What?!" Flash exclaimed in surprise as he raised his head up in shock and it appeared that it had pulled him out of the despair that he was in.
"Listen, if that had been me…" Usagi spoke up, breaking the silence. "I couldn't live all alone like that. Bearing all of that loneliness the way you did. I could never do that."
"I think I know you are trying to make the galaxy better," Minako added. "However, with everything that has happened, your methods cause too much conflict. The ends don't justify the means."
"Listen Hadea." Usagi spoke up. "We may not know how it feels to be lonely as you were but you must know that doing all this isn't gonna make you feel any better!"
"Mamoru?"
Mamoru was startled by the strange, yet familiar voice. "That voice."
"I have something for you," the voice announced.
A bright energy appeared in front of him with a crystal appearing at the center of the bright light.
"What?!" Hadea exclaimed in surprise.
"What is that?" Usagi asked as she quickly covered her face, sheilding herself from the brightness of the mysterious light.
A man with white hair appeared, holding the crystal in his hand.
"Helios!" Chibiusa exclaimed happily.
"Hello again, Chibiusa." Helios gave her a small smile.
Mamoru looked in surprise. It was good to see Helios again but what exactly was he doing here and what exactly was it that he had for him?
The crystal stopped glowing and it was revealed to be the same shape as Usagi's silver crystal, except it was gold in color.
"Is that the golden crystal?" Mamoru asked.
"Yes," Helios explained. "You had the true golden crystal all along. I was the keeper of the Golden Crystal of Dreams as Chibiusa was the keeper of my Pegasus form."
"So Mamoru has the true Golden Crystal?" Usagi asked. "Just as Chibiusa and I have our Silver Crystals?"
"That's correct, Princess of the White Moon," Helios answered.
"Curse you!" Hadea shouted, tapping the Necklace of Oros to zap Helios. "Be gone!"
The attack struck Helios in full blast.
"Helios!" Chibiusa cried out in shock.
"Do not worry." Mamoru looked up as he gently touched his future daughter's shoulders. "You will see me again. What you saw was just an image sending a message."
Seeing that Hadea was distracted by the appearance of Helios, she proceeded to focus on the Necklace of Oros to claim it back in her possession. Moments later, the jewel was in her hands.
She took a deep breath. Minako was right. While she did agree with the cause, the ends don't justify the means because Hadea's current methods were causing too much conflict. She couldn't allow this to go on further. She couldn't let her child be raised in a world with such conflict, let alone be without his or her father.
"I'm sorry." Jedda spoke up as she placed the Necklace of Oros on her neck, seeing that the Sailor Guardians were grouping together. She could sense a familiar aura as she used the necklace for the first time in over a year.
Hadea turned around in disbelief. "What… what are you doing?!"
"Necklace of Oros..." Jedda focused on the necklace's power. "Send the people of the Netherworld back home!"
The necklace twinkled and those that were Netherworlders were back at the Netherworld as Jedda could sense their presence at that location.
"Necklace of Oros," Jedda continued as the tears started to fall down her face, "I command you to restore everything back to the way it was before!"
She could sense the castles fading and the modern buildings were returning to Earth.
Jedda took a deep breath as she continued. "Necklace of Oros, revive everyone who fell during this conquest."
Within a few seconds, Jedda could sense those who died on Earth during Hadea's conquest being revived.
"Look!" she could hear LJ shout. Jedda opened her eyes as a twinkle of energy appeared next to her and moments later, Rick appeared. He had been revived.
"Rick!" Flash exclaimed happily.
"You're back." Jedda stared happily at her revived boyfriend.
"What happened?" Rick asked, confused yet stunned at the same time.
"All is well, son." Flash hurried to his son's side and gave him a hug. "All is well."
Hadea looked around in disbelief. All the work that she had done had been reversed.
"Why?" Hadea asked with panic in her tone of voice. "Why would you do all this?"
"Mother, while I do believe in this cause," Jedda explained. "The ends don't justify the means. You are causing too much conflict."
"She's right." Usagi added. "You have the right to receive love but you don't have any rights to take it. That's not how it goes."
Hadea started to feel a strange warm feeling. There was just something about what this girl was saying was giving her this warm feeling, rather than fear that she was originally having.
"We know that you will learn that," Ami added with a warm smile on her face.
"That's right." Rei nodded in agreement as Usagi got out her silver crystal.
"There's still time to make things right." Makoto told Hadea.
"It's not dawn yet," Minako added.
"If we all put our powers together," Usagi told her fellow Sailor Guardians. "I know… I know we can help her."
The silver crystal started to glow along with Mamoru's gold crystal. Hadea was unsure whether she was frightened by this or if she was feeling a welcoming presence before her.
Moments later, she saw various colors from the Sailor Guardians as they have closed. Their tiaras on their foreheads were glowing blue, red, yellow, cyan, green, orange, dark red, purple and pink. Even the Defenders of the Earth all had their eyes closed as they appeared to somewhat understand what Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians were doing.
Each of the heroes all looked at Hadea with compassion in their eyes.
"Don't be afraid," Ami spoke first.
"You're not alone anymore," Haruka added.
"Anyone's heart would grow cold if they were alone," Michiru said.
"Please, open your heart," Rei chimed in.
"There's still time to atone for your mistakes," Setsuna declared.
"Be brave," Minako stated.
"Believe in yourself," Makoto stressed.
"And have faith in all of us," Hotaru concluded.
"Believe in my Mommy," Chibiusa said. "In Usagi."
Hadea felt moved by the Sailor Guardians, especially with the pink haired girl, having faith in her mother. Suddenly, she noticed a bright glow coming from both the gold and silver crystals.
"Do you feel it?" Usagi asked. "Do you feel everyone's hearts? All this energy that we've brought together is for you, Queen Hadea."
Hadea started feeling warmth coming from the light of the beautiful glow. It was like nothing she had ever seen before.
"You must know in order to rule others, you must first learn to rule yourself," Usagi continued. "I know that you will be able to learn that in time."
Hadea remembered hearing that statement before but this time, it gave her a warm, friendly feeling. She was feeling the warmth and was accepting of it.
"I think she's ready," Jedda said.
"Moon Crisis Power!"
This boost of energy allowed Hadea to be healed from the darkness completely as she called out. "Refresh!"
Author's Note: Where Hadea was brought into the light was similar to how Queen Nehelenia was brought into the light in Sailor Moon Sailor Stars . However, this is not the last you will see of Queen Hadea as she will play a major role in the future. Stay tuned for that!
Scene Commentary:
"Is that the golden crystal?" Mamoru asked.
"Yes," Helios explained. "You had the true golden crystal all along. I was the keeper of the Golden Crystal of Dreams as Chibiusa was the keeper of my Pegasus form."
"So Mamoru has the true Golden Crystal?" Usagi asked. "Just as Chibiusa and I have our Silver Crystals?"
"That's correct, Princess of the White Moon," Helios answered.
For some reason, they excluded the fact that Mamoru was the holder of the Golden crystal in the Super S season and the Golden crystal was on Helios' horn rather than in the magna where it was revealed that Mamoru is the one who has the Golden crystal. He also has the golden star seed in Sailor Moon Stars, the anime. I figured that needed to be fixed.
