Chapter Thirty-Three: High Tensions
Rick felt another surge of pain go through him. "Ugh! Why now?!"
Moments later, the pain stopped. Then he lifted his hand to find something quite startling. His arms have become a beige like color. "What the?!"
He noticed the room was dark and assumed the color was just because of the darkness. He turned on the light switch. To his dismay, Rick saw that his new skin color was not his imagination, it was the real thing!
The door swung open. He turned around to see Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna have arrived. They were startled by the sight they saw of him.
"Rick, are you okay?" Michiru asked.
Get them. Show them it's not okay for them to use you. Rick heard Cathleen's voice in his head. He perked up and saw his opponents.
"He looks as if he's about to attack us." Setsuna stated. She, Haruka and Michiru posed, preparing to fight.
Rick growled and began to attack the three Sailor Guardians.

Rei perked up as she, Usagi, Ami, Makoto and Minako hurried to the hallway near Rick's room to figure out what the commotion was all about. The group spotted the others to see Mandrake, Lothar and the Sailor Starlights surrounding Cathleen.
"What's going on here?" Rei asked. The six individuals looked at them.
"Cathleen O' Connor is a traitor to all of you!" Yaten exclaimed.
"What?" Usagi, Ami, Makoto, Minako and Rei all gasped simultaneously, surprised by this revelation.
"She was doing this ever since joining you guys apparently." Seiya explained. "I caught her trying to pull something on Rick last night but this time, she was successful in her plans."
"Now Rick could possibly have a faster progression with his mutations because of her." Taiki added.
"Why is she doing this?!" Ami exclaimed in disbelief.
"She is doing her same old tricks she had done for years." Mandrake replied. "Now Rick has become a victim of her plans."
The group heard a loud crashing noise, which appeared to cause Cathleen to give out yet another smirk.
"Now what's going on?" Usagi asked.
"We got to act right away!" Makoto exclaimed.
"Mercury Crystal Power…"
"Mars Crystal Power…"
"Jupiter Crystal Power…"
"Venus Crystal Power…"
"Moon Eternal…"
"Make Up!"

April glanced over at Hotaru and Chibiusa, both in their sailor fukus, as they were leading her to the hallway near Cathleen's room. They looked in surprise to see a giant hole in the wall across from the room.
"No way!" Chibiusa exclaimed.
"How did that happen?" April asked.
"Uranus! Neptune! Pluto!" Hotaru exclaimed in shock.
April looked on in surprise as she followed the glance of the younger guardians. First, she saw Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna slowly getting up after being attacked. Then she saw something quite startling, Rick looked a bit different than she last saw him last night. His innocent blue eyes have become a vicious red, his curly blonde locks have now reached to the bottom of his chin and his skin was a beige color. Rick?
"Whatever Cathleen did to him," Haruka stated as she stood up, "it caused his mutations to progress faster than we thought."
"She was never on our side." Michiru added, standing up as well. Setsuna nodded, confirming everything as she stood up as well. "I'm afraid it's true."
April was in disbelief at what she just heard. So that what was going on all this time. Cathleen had been feeding negative thoughts to her brother. It was stuff she overheard him talking about but she never imagined things would get as far as they did.
"You are the ones using me!" Rick yelled at the Sailor Guardians. "Cathleen wants to help me!"
"You're wrong!" Chibiusa stood in front of him. "We are the ones who want to help you and we are trying to help!"
" Cathleen is the one who is using you!" Hotaru stressed. "She has been feeding you lies all this time, Rick!"
"You can't fool me!" Rick barked.
"Now hold on there!" April glanced at her brother. "Don't you see what's happening to you! Cathleen is causing your mutations to progress faster than they're supposed to! You should be smart enough to realize the truth!"
"April!" she heard her father shout from behind. Everyone turned to see Flash, LJ and the Phantom arrive from the doorway of the mansion while Mandrake, Lothar and Cathleen along with a powered up Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako all arriving from the blasted hole.
"Uranus! Neptune! Pluto!" Minako exclaimed.
"Chibi Moon! Saturn!" Usagi added.
"Something's wrong with Rick." Chibiusa informed everyone.
Flash walked over to Rick in shock at the sight of his mutations. "Rick, what has happened to you?"
"Why do you care?" Rick snarled. "You are the one who didn't want me anymore all because of my powers."
"What?" Flash looked in surprise. "What are you talking about?"
"Cathleen caused this!" Mandrake shouted. "She made him think he's alone and caused his mutations to progress!"
"What?"
"It's true." Seiya said as he, Yaten and Taiki appeared outside as well. "Cathleen tried to pull some kind of stunt yesterday but Jedda and I were able to keep her from doing so."
"But she was successful this time." Yaten added.
"Cathleen!" Flash got out his handgun. "How could you do this to my son!"
"Back away from us!" Rick demanded. "You don't love me anymore, father, all because of my powers! My sister only cares about being on top!"
"What are you saying?" Flash asked. "I never turned from you."
April couldn't believe what she was hearing as well. What has she done to him? Why would she feed him such lies?
"Save it, Flash." Mandrake replied. "He's deep under Cathleen's control."

Rei gasped, startled upon sensing something. She saw Jedda and Chibi Chibi nearby.
"What's going on?" Jedda asked.
"On!" Chibi Chibi exclaimed.
"Jedda, take Chibi Chibi and get to a safe place!" Rei ordered.
Jedda nodded before looking down at the small child. "Come on, Chibi Chibi. I have a feeling this is going to be dangerous!"
"Chibi Chibi!" Chibi Chibi exclaimed as she and Jedda left the area.
"What's going on?" Ami asked.
"I sense… ominous flow of energy at six o' clock!" Rei exclaimed. The two birds in the sky were cawing and flying as if they were being frantic.
"Sailor Mars," Mandrake looked up in the sky, "it appears as if your friends are upset about this."
In a flash of energy, Sailor Lead Crow appeared.
"You again!" Flash exclaimed in anger.
Sailor Lead Crow chuckled for a moment before she started to speak. "I recognized the light of your star seeds as I saw it. Why don't you come out of hiding already?"
She looked up at the sky where the two birds were flying. "Phobos and Deimos!"
In a beam of energy, the two birds transformed into two humanoid females with long black hair. The first female wore purple while the other wore red.
"No way!" LJ exclaimed in surprise.
"Those are Phobos and Deimos." Rei stated.
"That is correct." the two humanoids replied.
"I am Phobos." the girl in purple introduced herself.
"And I am Deimos." the girl in red introduced herself.

Sailor Lead Crow smirked as Phobos and Deimos stared at her in shock. "It's been a long time hasn't it, Phobos and Deimos?"
"Lead Crow!" Phobos and Deimos exclaimed in shock.
"You know each other?" April asked.
"That's correct." Sailor Lead Crow answered before she glanced at the shocked humanoids. "Phobos, Deimos, your powers were chosen by the princess of Mars, a planet of the most divinely radiant system in the galaxy. The lucky twins, given moons with your very names and made partners to the princess herself!"
She took a deep breath before she continued. "Long ago, we were fellow soldiers in training, each with our own dreams for the future, but I'm not the fledgling I was then. I am a Sailor Guardian known as Sailor Lead Crow!"
"A Sailor Guardian!" Phobos and Deimos both exclaimed.
"So Phobos and Deimos are guardians to Sailor Mars." Mandrake stated in surprise. "Princess Mars."
"Every living thing in the galaxy has a star seed." Usagi stated.
"But that doesn't mean they are actually Sailor Guardians." Lothar added.
"That is correct." Sailor Lead Crow smirked, pleased with how her opponents were catching on. "Those with chosen star seeds - those two possess Sailor Crystals have the right to call themselves Sailor Guardians."
"The only one from Koronis who can call herself a Sailor Guardian is the one blessed with the planet's protection." Phobos spoke up.
"And that is Sailor Koronis!" Deimos added. "And you are not her!"
"Clearly." April stated.
"Galactica Tornado!" Sailor Lead Crow unleashed her attack to everyone in sight. They were only knocked down in the process.
"That's impossible!" Deimos gasped.
"That power… it's…" Phobos added.
"That's right." Lead Crow chuckled. "Lady Galaxia gave me the power of a Sailor Crystal and if I get her the Sailor Crystals of this solar system's Sailor Guardians, she promised me that in exchange, I will be reborn as a real Sailor Guardian, with a planet of my very own! So, I have sworn fealty to Lady Galaxia and joined the Sailor Animamates!"
"That is just twisted!" LJ exclaimed.
"A sickening act of betrayal!" April added.
"You betrayed your home planet and your comrades?!" Phobos exclaimed in shock.
"And our source of pride - you betrayed our Sailor Koronis as well?!" Deimos added.
"Our home planet no longer exists!" Sailor Lead Crow exclaimed. "My comrades and Sailor Koronis are gone as well!"
She powered up, aiming her attack towards both Phobos and Deimos. "Be gone, you fools!"

Usagi looked on in horror as Sailor Lead Crow vaporized Phobos and Deimos. After they were vaporized, two red crystals were all that remained.
"They vanished!" Usagi gasped in shock.
"Phobos! Deimos!" Rei cried in shock. She prepared to launch an attack of her own. "Mars Flame Sniper!"
Lead Crow deflected the attack while grabbing the star seeds of Phobos and Deimos. She looked down at Rick. "It appears Rick Gordon is starting to transform here. Now that I have at least two star seeds, I shall be taking him to Galaxia as well!"
"Not a chance!" Usagi exclaimed before preparing her attack. "Starlight Honeymoon… Therapy Kiss!"
The attack hit Sailor Lead Crow in full blast and vaporized her in full blast.

Rick looked on in surprise. One threat was gone, now he had the rest of the threats to deal with. At the same time, his thoughts had become clouded. He wanted to believe that Cathleen was lying because deep down, he thought that was the case but he felt something keeping him from realizing the truth. What's happening to me?
"Rick, you must remember!" he could hear Mandrake call out. "You are a Defender! You were never in cohorts with Cathleen!"
Suddenly, Rick felt a strain in his mind as if his thoughts were starting to change. "Listen to me, Rick!"
"No." Rick groaned in agony. "No! No! I can't…"
"Rick, son." Flash walked towards in son. "It's going to be all right."
"Get away!" Rick yelled. He lifted his hand which caused Flash to become strangled and being lifted into the air.
"Dad!" April exclaimed in shock.
"Rick, stop this!" Usagi took a brave step forward only for her to deal with the same fate as Flash.
"Sailor Moon!" Rei exclaimed in shock.
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
April looked on in shock as Rick was strangling both Usagi and Flash. It looked as if he wasn't going to stop until they were dead.
She looked up when a red rose suddenly came from out of nowhere and made Rick stop his attack, releasing both Flash and Usagi in the process.
Everyone looked up to see Mamoru standing at the rooftop of the mansion.
"Rick Gordon," Mamoru told her brother, "you must come to your senses and remember! Cathleen is deceiving you!"
"Tuxedo Mask." April stared in awe.
"Sailor Moon," Mamoru told his lover, "use your silver crystal to free Rick from the control Cathleen has placed him under!"
-Sailor-Moon-Defenders-
Rick looked on as Usagi nodded before she got out the silver crystal from from her golden compact. "Please, silver crystal!"
The silver crystal started to glow. "Moon Healing Escalation!"
Rick felt the tensity from the bright light of the silver crystal.
"Rick, you must remember." Usagi called to her ally. "You must remember! You are loved by everyone here! Your father loves you! We all love you!"
Rick started to remember the happier times. He could remember the times his father shown him that he did care for him. He remembered the good times he had with April when they were younger, even when she visited the team after their mother died. He remembered his best friend LJ and his bonding with him. He remembered the love he shared with his girlfriend Jedda. He also remembered bonding with Ami as well. He also the good times he had with Lothar, Mandrake, the Phantom and Kshin as well. Even Sheila and the rest of the Sailor Guardians that he spent time with.
"I remember now!" Rick stated in awe. "I am loved!"
Flash hurried to his son's side as the brightness vanished. "It's going to be okay, son."
He looked up at his father. "Dad, what happened?"
"It will be fine, son."
"Why haven't his mutations went away?" LJ asked.
Rick looked in horror at his beige skin. "What's happening to me?!"
He realized that he had mutated quite a bit while under Cathleen's control. "Oh no!"
The surge of pain started going through him again.

"Rick, what's wrong?" Flash asked, looking at his son with concern.
"The pain!" Rick cried out. "It's worst than before!"
"Why didn't the silver crystal erase the mutations?" Chibiusa asked.
"It was able to free Rick from Cathleen's control." Seiya answered. "But we are going to need the antidote to reverse the mutations!"
Flash had no idea just how much progression in the mutations Rick was enduring. He noticed his son's eyes were red and skin beige and his hair was growing and now reached his neck. Horrified, he backed up as Rick dropped to his knees, screaming in pain.
"Someone, help him!" Flash cried out frantically.
He gasped seeing Rick's fingers turning into black claws and his human ears becoming pointed upwards. His shoes tore off as well where his feet grew twice its size. The mutations weren't over yet but he could tell his son was terrified at what was happening to him. He looked at the shocked expressions of the others before looking at his son, who was standing up.
"No. No!" Rick cried out in horror. "This can't be happening!"
"He's becoming a monster!" LJ exclaimed in shock.
"Those Quasanite visions don't play around." April added.
"But this is far from a vision!" Rick cried as April, Flash and LJ surrounded him. "This is the real deal! Somebody do something!"
"We'll inform the princess about this at once. Meet us at Monitor!" Seiya exclaimed before he, Yaten and Taiki vanished from sight.
"Let's get Rick inside." Mandrake suggested.
Everyone hurried into the mansion and made their way to Monitor.

Volume One
Using the power of the Necklace of Oros, Queen Hadea conquers the galaxy. The Defenders seek help from a group called the Sailor Guardians.
Rei notices the effects of battle on Usagi. Meanwhile, both teams make desperate efforts to end the clash. The Sailors approach Hadea's temple, and Flash's daughter returns to lend her aid.
Each side becomes more powerful.
Issues in Jedda's past and present lead to a monumental decision.
Princess Jedda begins embracing Hadea's cause. Ami and Rick continue to bond.

The Guardians and Defenders continue their clash against the queen.
In the aftermath, revelations emerge and choices are made.

The younger team members begin adjusting to the changes. Others strive to fit back into normal society.
As his companions reflect, Mandrake begins to sense a mystical disturbance.
Mandrake is reacquainted with a major figure in his life.

Once again, Krotan makes his move on Jedda.

Rick senses that the Netherworld could face an imminent attack.
The groups begin learning more about the Kings.
Hadea and her companions take preemptive measures against Zorelda.
Hadea and Phantom explore their bond, as do several others throughout the day. First appearance of Tori Gordon.
Rick and Jedda work to resolve recent issues. Minako explores life in the Netherworld.
Ming reenters the fray as the Kings converse with Zorelda.
The groups decide that it's time for the confrontation.
The Guardians and Defenders engage the Kings in the Netherworld.
The Kings begin to realize the truth.
With Zorelda seemingly thwarted, the groups begin moving on. A woman named Rachel arrives at Monitor.
